Registration FAQs

Who is my advisor?


  • All new students have been assigned to an advisor.
  • If you don’t know who this is, log into SONIS to find out.
  • You can find your advisor's name on the Bio tab, on the right side of the page.
  • Contact the University Registrar's Office if you need help connecting with an advisor.

How do I log in to SONIS?


  • Instructions for online registration in SONIS: click here.
  • The SONIS web address is here: http://sonis.ohiochristian.edu.
  • Click on Student Access.
  • Your username is your OCU email user name.

·         If this is your first time logging in, you will need to use the same username and password that you would use for your OCU Email (WebMail) account.



Why register early?


To save your spot in the classes and class times you want! 



What if I want to change my major?


  • Fill out and submit a new Program Declaration form, available in the Registrar’s Office.
  • Advisors and Department Chairs have these forms too.

What if I have a Financial Aid Hold?


  • Many hold issues are easily resolved. Contact Financial Aid to get the hold removed: 740.477.7716 or finaid@ohiochristian.edu.
  • Go ahead and see your advisor! Bringing your class schedule to the Registrar's Office during the Registration Days will keep you from paying the $100 late registration fee.

How do I get my textbooks?


1) Find a list of your courses with course numbers (see the "How do I log in to SONIS?" FAQ)


2) Login to www.ocubookstore.com


3) Choose Buy or Rent Books Books


  • Select

    • term -- fall, spring, summer
    • department
    • course
    • section
  • Decide
    • rent or buy
    • new or used
  • Choose ‘KEEP SHOPPING’ until you are done
  • Choose books for all courses or come back later to purchase more

4) Finish Your Order


  • Click ‘VIEW CART’
  • Select shipping method.
    • In-store pickup is free.

      • For in-store pick up, you will receive an email when your books are ready.
      • You may not get all your books at once. The email will tell you which books are ready.
  • Make your payment.
    • Log In to Your Account

      • First time User: Create a New Customer login
      • Returning User: Sign in
    • Enter your payment information

    What if I plan to graduate this year?


    1. Complete your graduation audit

    2. Schedule a follow-up with your advisor to complete the audit
    3. Enter your graduation preferences online
      • The online form lets you

        • RSVP for the ceremony
        • Specify how your name appears on the diploma
        • Order graduation regalia
        • etc.
      • How to RSVP
        • Login to SONIS

          • Your advisor will clear the hold later. 
          • You may see a Registration Hold
        • Click the Bio tab
        • Choose Forms (top right hand)
        • Open the Intent to Graduate Form, complete, and submit
