Writing Center

If you need help understanding an assignment, working on an outline or thesis statement, writing a draft, revising a draft, or understanding APA format, visit our friendly writing consultant in the Writing Center room in the Maxwell Library.  This is a free service offered to OCU students. The Writing Center will be available to all traditional, CCP (College Credit Plus) and AGS students during the hours listed below.

Writing Center Hours

Sunday: 8 pm - midnight

Monday: 11 am - midnight

Tuesday: 3 pm - midnight

Wednesday: 11 am - midnight

Thursday: 3 pm - 9 pm

Friday and Saturday: CLOSED

 

Live too far away to make the drive?

Send your paper as an attachment to writingcenter@ohiochristian.edu Keep in mind that the drop-in students are given first priority for feedback, but we are typically able to serve students who email papers within 48 hours (on our scheduled nights).

Tips for Success

Please visit the Writing Center at least 24-48 hours before your paper is due. To prepare for your visit, please consider this advice.
Download and print the GENERAL CONFERENCE FORM below (Under Downloads), and take it with you when you visit the Writing Center for your conference.
Complete the form with the Writing Center consultant and submit it along with your paper. Email writingcenter@ohiochristian.edu for more information.

The Writing Center will host several workshops this semester; all will be held in the Library Commons. 

  • Scripture Narrative Workshop – Monday 2/1 (4 pm – 7 pm)

  • Position Essay Research Workshop – Tuesday 3/1 (4 pm – 7 pm)

  • Refuting Argument Workshop - Monday 3/14 (4 pm - 7 pm)

  • Position Essay Thesis and Outline Workshop - Monday 3/21 (4 pm - 7 pm)

  • Position Essay Planning Workshop - Tuesday 3/29 ( 4 pm - 7 pm)

  • Position Essay Process Evaluation Workshop - Monday 4/4 (4 pm - 7 pm)
